2/20/06 - Congratulations to Jindgan and Xifeng.
their team has won the intermediate bracket!
11/29/05 - Congratulations to Russ, Luv, and
Abishek. Their team has won the advanced bracket!
11/29/05 - Abishek has replaced Luv in the
advanced tournament because Luv injured his hand.
10/1/05 - I created a listserv for sending
everyone messages. It's called cs-foos-f05, and I'll be sending
the first email by Monday to announce the brackets and to start the
tournament.
9/20/05 - The tourney will start the second week
of October to give time for quals to end, people to get some
practice time with their partners, etc. In the meantime, check the
team listings to make sure your team is right. If you don't have a
partner, check the free agent list to find one.
Each tournament will be probably be a double-elimination tournament (as long as there are
enough teams in each to make it work). Lose one game, and you're moved to the losers'
bracket. Lose a second, and you're out! We will record scores for fun.
Each five-game match consists of all combinations of players. Teams switch sides after
every game, and every player will take both offensive and defensive positions during the
match. After the first game, both teams switch positions. After the second game, the winner
of the second game switches, and after the third everyone switches. Should a fifth game be
necessary (due to a 2-2 tie), teams may choose their own offensive/defensive configuration.
Flip a coin or something to see who has first foos.
NO SPINNING! Spinning is defined as the rotation of any figure more than
360 degrees before or after striking the ball. In calculating total rotation, you do not
add the pre-hit rotation to the post-hit rotation. A goal scored by an illegal spin does
not count, and is put back in play by the goalie, as if the ball had stopped between the
goalie and 2-rod. If the illegal spin does not result in a goal, the opposing team has the
choice of continuing play from the current position or re-serving the ball.
After the conclusion of a match, email the scores to the tournament organizer.
Send both the final victor and the number of points scored by each team.
Extremely delayed or unreported matches may instead be decided by
forfeit!
