I am a PhD student at University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.  I am an Indian by birth as well as citizenship.  As you may know, India has a lot of diversity; every state has its own language and culture.  I am a Tamilian, though I have never lived in my native state.  I have lived in a number of places in India, small towns as well as huge cities.  My early childhood was spent in a small town called Yamunanagar located in northern India.  After that I lived in Bombay for a while, before shifting to another small town called Ballarshah, then back to Bombay, before moving to Delhi :-)  I lived in Delhi for four years to do my undergrad at Indian Institute of Technology.  I came to Chapel Hill in 2000 for my graduate studies.  I have been living in Chapel Hill for the last five years, the longest time I have spent in one place in a very long time.
