Faculty Recruiting for Academic Year 2010-2011

The Department of Computer Science in the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, in conjunction with the Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center (LCCC) and the Carolina Center for Genome Sciences (CCGS), seeks a colleague who applies computational methods to study molecular, cellular or developmental systems relevant to cancer. Example specializations may include, but are not limited to, the use of genomics‐based computational models and algorithms to study physical processes within the cell, modeling of molecular interactions and cellular networks, and epigenetic control of genome function. The search is to fill a full‐time tenure track faculty position at the assistant professor level. The primary appointment is in the Department of Computer Science, but the successful candidate will participate in biomedical research campus‐wide.

The successful candidate must have a Ph.D. in computer science, computational biology, or a relevant field by the effective date. Qualified candidates should have a strong research record in computational biology and experience in interdisciplinary collaboration, and a commitment to teaching excellence.
