lNews Assignment:  A class presentation and discussion of a current technology development related to business.
technology will save you
The assignment is very simple.  Find a story in the press that discusses the use of technology in developing a business or other entrepreneurial enterprise.  My definitions are quite loose;  I will not grade down because the topic was not "on target."  If you can convince yourself that there is technology and business or a non-profit organization involved, it will be fine.  What wouldn't be fine?   A business article about financial malfeasance or a takeover or an article about how technology is impacting family life.

Presentations and discussions should last approximately 10 minutes.

You should prepare a PowerPoint presentation that covers the key concepts and the key discussion points.  You should spend most of your time on discussion.

The most important part of the assignment is recognizing the important issues and raising questions for the class to discuss.  If you can't think of any interesting questions, you should find another article.  The article does not need to be "hot off the presses," but a year-old article would not be acceptable.

In order to participate in a discussion, the class needs to know the topic.  I want to encourage people to read the article before class.  In order to do that.you are to post a link  to the article
on the wiki 36 hours before class.  That is, by 9:30 p.m. on Sunday or Tuesday, depending on which day you are presenting.

Now, we all know that students do not always prepare for class, so you are to present a summary of the key points.  Even for those that have read the article, will this allow you to focus the discussion of what you think are the key issues.

Grading Rubric:
A: material posted on time.  well planned presentation.  brings in additional information beyond the article.  good meaty questions.
B:
material posted on time.  well planned presentation.  good meaty questions.
C:
material posted on time.  well planned presentation.
D: material not posted on time or no prepared material

Feedback will be emailed within 48 hours of presentation.  Exact percentage of homework assignment and participation will depend on other assignments.
