Lab 10: Planets (Tables)

For Lab 10, you are to create a web page and css and upload them to isis under your onyen as index.html in a folder named Lab10. That means that we will be able to access it using http://www.unc.edu/~onyen/Lab10. Remember that the css file is to be names lab10.css.

The content of the page is the text that is found in planets.txt. The structure of the file is an introductory paragraph followed by the following for each of four planets:

You are to create a web page with a tab title of "The Planets of the Inner Solar System" and a page title of "The Inner Solar System". The page should explicitly show your name and today's date. The page should have the introductory paragraph and a table with 3 columns. The columns are to have headers of "Name", "Picture" and "About". That is, the headers and first line of the table will have the following content (but not necessarily this format):

Formatting requirements are

  1. The table is to be 80% of the window and centered with a top margin of 25px.
  2. Borders in the table are to be visible and collapsed.
  3. The images are all to be 200px wide.
  4. There is to be padding of 5px on the left and right sides of the cells. (You may choose the padding on the top and bottom.)
  5. Each row is to have a background color appropriate for the planet: Mercury grey, Venus yellow, Earth blue, and Mars red. The colors may be any shade, as long as they are in the correct family. Do, however, make sure that the text is readable.
  6. All other formatting is your choice.

The HTML and CSS for the page are to be properly formatted with appropriate indentation. You are to add a comment to the css identifying you as the author of the page and giving today's date.

As with all labs in this class, you may finish posting the lab after class, up until 10 pm.
