Fellowship Program Academic Year 2007-2008 Department of Computer Science University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill The Department of Computer Science at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, actively seeks industrial partners for our Industry-Sponsored Graduate Student Fellowship Program. These fellowships provide support for our top graduate students. All fellowships are named for the sponsoring industrial partner and are announced via our newsletter, press releases and Web page. Most fellowships provide the student with support for the nine-month academic year only. In many cases the student will spend the summer working at the industrial sponsor's facility. Provisions can be made for twelve-month fellowships where applicable. One of the goals of this fellowship program is to provide students with an opportunity to gain practical research experience. Therefore, we generally expect all fellowship holders to join an active departmental research group. These fellowships provide the student with the following support: a monthly stipend; student health insurance; tuition reimbursement; attendance at a major conference in their field; at least one trip to their sponsor's facility during the course of the year; computer services support; and an allowance for educational supplies. Neither UNC-Chapel Hill nor the Department of Computer Science charges any fee for administering these fellowships. The cost for sponsoring one of these fellowships is $30,000 and can usually be treated as a donation to the University.
