Stephen R. Aylward
Stephen R. Aylward is an assistant professor in the Department
of Radiology and an adjunct assistant professor in the Department of
Computer Science at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
He received a B.S. in 1988 from Purdue University, an M.S. in
1989 from the Georgia Institute of Technology, and a Ph.D. in 1997
from UNC-Chapel Hill. He previously served as the technical leader
of the McDonnell Douglas Neural Network Laboratory. Dr. Aylward
has established the
Computer Aided Display and Diagnosis Laboratory, whose researchers
are dedicated to conducting applied image processing research
regarding the 3D planning, delivery, and evaluation of surgical
and intraventional radiology tasks. His current work focuses on
generating visualizations and quantifications of vasculature for
neurosurgical and partial-organ transplant procedures.
