Non-Routine and Routine Inquiries
Statement of Policy
- The Publications & Publicity Manager is not authorized to
speak on behalf of the Department of Computer Science
regarding policy or academic matters.
- Such non-routine inquiries should be referred to
the Chairman or to one of the Associate Chairmen.
Rationale
The policy is intended to protect both the Publications & Publicity Manager
and the department.
Examples
Examples include (but are not limited to):
- Questions about departmental or university policy issues.
- Complaints about admissions or other department or university
policies.
- Complaints about the department's Web page structure or content,
including but not limited to offensive or unpopular speech or images (hate
speech; pornography; etc.), or links to other sites
from personal Web pages.
- Any questions where the responder will speak for the department
and/or possibly for the university.
Routine Inquiries
Faculty and Staff
In compliance with N.C. State Law, a policy for all
persons employed by UNC has been implemented whereby
public, work-related information will be publicly available.
An Exception Request form may be submitted. Visit

Students
Student's privacy settings for name, local address and phone are set
by default to make all directory information available for
public access in the on-line campus directory. Students can modify
their pages to change those privacy flags.
