Nano
Seminar
Fridays from 3:00-4:00
in Phillips 277
nano@cs.unc.edu
Schedule,
Minutes, Presentations
Archives
Led by Russ. This
seminar series brings together researchers from every discipline involved
in the project, and everyone involved is invited. There will be two student
presentations each week. Presentations by computer science students will
describe either their current project or a new idea they have for a tool
to help a physical scientist. Presentations by physical science students
will describe their current research, with attention paid to how new computer
tools might help them. Presentations by other disciplines will be as appropriate.
Each talk will be 15 minutes long, with a 5-minute discussion period following
on the topic of the research and to allow people to express interest in
working together and to give quick ideas. Attendees are invited to provide
written feedback on the talk itself. The point is to both foster innovation
(leading to papers, dissertations, and new project directions) and to
give students experience in oral presentation of research.
This seminar will
also present news of interest to the whole team, and discussions of topics
of interest to the whole team. The remainder of the time (if any) will
be taken up with further discussion of the topics raised by the presentations,
or perhaps demos.
