Tools Research
CISMM is in development of
various tools, most of which are directed toward certain Biomedical mediums.
Below is a list of the tools currently in development and use.
3D
Force Microscope
We have designed and prototyped a novel alternative
design for a 3D Force Microscope. In the biomedical research section,
we describe three initial target research projects that will use the instrument:
Cystic Fibrosis, Molecular Motors, and Cell Division.
Ideal
User Interfaces
We have developed User Interfaces
to go along with our various tools.
Mixing
Model and Experiment
The goal
of this work is to combine techniques for acquisition, analysis, model
building, hypothesis testing, and direct visual comparison into an experiment-driven
system that enables the scientist to separate fact from illusion.
NanoManipulator
The nanoManipulator
(nM) system provides an improved, natural interface to Scanning-probe
microscopes (SPMs), including Scanning Tunneling Microscopes (STMs) and
Atomic Force Microscopes (AFMs). The nM couples the microscope to a virtual-reality
interface that gives the scientist virtual telepresence on the surface,
scaled by a factor of about a million to one.
