  Fax Machine Directions

Each time you send a fax, record the appropriate information on the log form near the fax machine.

Sending a Fax While You Wait

  1. Place the fax face down.
  2. Enter in the number of pages at the keypad, then press "yes."
  3. Dial the number, making sure to put a 9 first. When dialing long distance numbers, dial 9 + 1 + area code + number.
  4. Record on the fax log any call out of Chapel Hill and indicate project/funding source for fax. NOTE: See instructions below for sending personal faxes.
  5. Press the large green "Start" button.
  6. If anything goes wrong during transmission, an error report will be printed.
International Faxes
  1. Place fax face down.
  2. Enter the number of pages at the keypad, then press "yes."
  3. Dial 9 + 011 + Country Code + City Code + Local Number.
  4. repeat steps 4-6 above.
Personal Faxes:
  1. Place fax face down.
  2. Enter the number of pages, then press "yes."
  3. Pick up the handset located on the top far side of the fax machine. Then dial 9 + your 1-800 calling card number (just like you would do when making a phone call).
  4. Follow all normal procedures for your particular calling card/credit card company.
  5. When all appropriate numbers have been entered, press the green "Start" button.
  6. When phone rings, hang up the handset.
