Using the howto program

reviewed by Brian White 6/19/08

This is a description of how to use the 'howto' program and a
listing of the various subjects on which you can receive
information with the 'howto' command.

The usage of the howto command is:

        howto article1 article2 article3 ...

where article1 article2 article3 ... are names of articles in the
howto directory. Zero or more articles can be specified; if you
do not specify an article, this file will be printed. If there is
no article whose name matches an article name that you specified,
then a list of all articles whose names or descriptions contain
the specified name is printed. This feature can be used to find,
e.g., all articles about mac, tex, etc.

The current version of howto uses lynx as the pager. If you wish
to use the older system (which uses more as the pager by default)
that's available under the command how2 on the main login servers.
