CMOS Smart Sensors for Tracking in Natural Environments

Abstract
I propose to research and prototype smart sensors as part of a hybrid inertial/optical tracking device for use in interactive computer graphics. The resulting tracking device will work in natural environments, enabling new applications of interactive computer graphics. These new applications of interactive computer graphics will allow us to more effectively advance and communicate scientific knowledge of the universe. The tracker has further potential as a navigation tool (perhaps on a mobile robot) useful in exploring space and the solar system.
