Facilities and Web Committee (DFC)
This committee, which was formerly the Departmental Facilities Committee and still goes by the abbreviation DFC, will advise the Chairman, Associate Chairmen, IT Director, and Faculty on policy matters involving all aspects of the department's facilities, including the computer and communication plant and the department's web space. Matters under this committee's purview include access to the building and access to computers, logical and physical security, major equipment acquisitions, major software acquisitions, and planning of computing and communications facilities and support personnel for the department's facilities. Note: this committee must avoid becoming involved in micromanagement of Computer Services.
The goal of this Committee is to suggest ways to improve the security, comfort, and effectiveness of the working environment in the department by proposing policy and procedure modifications that will more smoothly support the work that needs to be done by students, faculty, and staff. Since the matters of this committee's concern affect students, faculty, and staff, this committee will have representation from all those groups.
Up to three graduate students are appointed to this committee.
