    Curriculum and Planning Committee

    Graduate Curriculum and Planning Committee (GCAP)

    GCAP is charged with

    • reviewing all proposals for substantive changes to graduate courses, including the creation of new courses, the deletion of old courses, and changes to syllabi for required courses,
    • recommending to the faculty changes in requirements for the graduate degrees,
    • advising the Chair concerning how to allocate departmental resources, and
    • helping the Chair to identify longer-range issues facing the department and plan how departmental affairs should be managed to address those issues.

    Faculty on this committee should include those with significant interest in major GCAP action items, a representative sampling of research areas, and a mix of new and veteran faculty to the extent possible.

    There are two student members, one representing each of the M.S. and Ph.D. degree programs.

    Time requirement: 1 hour meeting per week, perhaps an average of 3 weeks per month. Subcommittee assignments may involve 5-10 hours per semester when CAPCOM is pursuing a significant project.

    Undergraduate Curriculum and Planning Committee (UGCAP)

    UGCAP is charged with

    • reviewing all proposals for substantive changes to undergraduate courses, including the creation of new courses, the deletion of old courses, and changes to syllabi for required courses,
    • recommending to the faculty changes in requirements for the undergraduate degree,
    • advising the Chair concerning how to allocate departmental resources, and
