What are the goals of CSIP?

  • to improve the educational experience of our students by increasing their exposure to the practical aspects of computer science;
    to better understand the changes that are occurring on the commercial side of computer science, and use that knowledge to influence both research and curriculum;
    to expose our research to the commercial community;
    to provide better connections to industry for our students and faculty; and
    to promote awareness of our computer science program to the North Carolina community.

CSIP Components

  • Student internships
  • Faculty collaborations
  • Shared learning opportunities
  • Industry speakers in classes and colloquia
  • Department speakers on partner’s campus
  • Annual academic advisory board
  • Access to student projects
  • Student fairs
  • Topical symposia
  • Cooperative outreach programs

How will my company benefit as a CSIP Partner?

CSIP offers industry partners an opportunity for valuable collaborations with an academic institution at the forefront of computing research. Partners gain easy access to outstanding students and to technical information across a broad spectrum of research, as well as the opportunity to influence the content of our curriculum and participate in ongoing technical information exchanges. Department faculty and students benefit by the exposure to industry-relevant issues and real world computing challenges.

As a partner, you will have a single focal point for all interactions with the department. Working together, you will design the elements of the partnership that meet your needs. There will be no need to find the right person to arrange a meeting or help you find the right contact.

Working with the department, you will have better awareness of ongoing research interests and activities. Department skills will be more easily accessible and you will have ongoing knowledge of current work.

You will be able to target recruiting to the students who are the best candidates for your jobs. With increased activity between you and the department, you will also have first hand experience with our best students.

Through annual academic advisory board meetings, you will have the opportunity to tell us about areas you consider key future technologies and identify important trends within the computer science field.

As you work with our students, you can help us identify the skills and tools that could use increased focus.

As we embark on a “semester at work” co-op program, you will have the opportunity to help us structure the program to be of most benefit to you and our students.

How can my company become a CSIP Partner?

There is no fee to become a CSIP Partner. All it requires is your interest in working with us and a single point of contact willing to work on the partnership.

Chairman’s Circle

We offer the opportunity for companies to join our Chairman’s Circle and have increased access to our students. Specifically, the Circle membership provides your company an invitation to the annual Student Fair and topical symposia, and priority consideration in our co-op program.

Established Companies $2,000
Start-ups $200

These are considered donations and are tax-deductible.
