I received my B.S. in Computer Science with a minor in Mathematics from UNC Chapel Hill in May 2009. Since then I have started my grad work at UNC in August 2009 (because, you know, Chapel Hill is too amazing of a place to leave). This site will mostly contain info in relation to my work, but I may post some pictures of my scuba or traveling adventures.
My area of interest encompasses two different areas, mostly due to my involvement in different projects in my undergraduate and graduate career. I have a keen interest in predictive information sharing using a variety of data mining and natural language techniques. I also enjoy working with collaborative user interface generation. Specifically, I have worked with generating collaborative applications using the Java AWT, Swing, SWT, and GWT toolkits.
I am a research assistant working under Prof. Prasun Dewan on two projects.
Our first project, and the main focus of my thesis work, is on automated access control for email systems. We work to generate recommendations of access control for a particular email messages based on a history of information sharing
Our second project focuses on GUI toolkits and collaborative applications using GUI toolkits.
In the fall of 2009, I was a TA for Professor Steve Weiss in Comp 110, Introduction to Programming. The course webpage can be found here .
The page for recitation materials can be found here.
I worked as an intern programmer at the Smithsonian Institution Archives in the Summer of 2008. One of my major code projects was developing a script to combine the outputs of the Jhove and DROID scanning tools into one easily understandable output. The project is detailed here.
