X-Win32: getting started

 

The first time: setting up a session

Execute X-Util32 (usually available off your Start->Programs menu)

Choose Sessions->New Session from the menus

Session name: <make up a name here; e.g.,> eagle

Connect using: rexec

Window setting: default

Host name: eagle.cs.unc.edu

Command: xterm -ls -display $DISPLAY

(leave Login and Password blank)

Save

Using this session

Execute X-Win32 (usually available off your Start->Programs menu)

Choose Sessions->name (the name you entered above) from the X-Win32 menus

Enter your login name and Password

When you’re done, be sure to close the X-Win32 session, by choosing Close from the X-Win32 menu
