PhD Student at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Department of Computer Science

About Me — Previous Education

This page is about my past. Check out the Main Page to see what I'm currently up to.

I previously attended The College of William & Mary (W&M) in Williamsburg, Virginia. I was a member of W&M's Computer Science Department, where I earned my Master's degree in 2010. While I was there, The College of Arts and Sciences awarded me with the Graduate Studies Advisory Board fellowship.

My undergraduate degree is a B.S. in Computer Science with Honors from Bucknell University. Dr. Felipe Perrone advised my honors thesis, which focused on network simulation. I also completed the requirements for a B.A. in German Studies, and spent some time taking German and Computer Science courses in Hamburg, Germany.

Work Experience

In summer 2011, I worked at Amazon on something related to S3. I cannot go into detail because the product I worked on is unreleased.

I interned at NetApp in summer 2010 with the Advanced Technology Group. I developed C++ simulations to tune and evaluate the performance of a similarity hash algorithm for use in storage clusters. The algorithm routes data to the node in the cluster containing the most similar data, thereby improving deduplication effectiveness and reducing storage utilization.

I have also interned with Verizon Wireless' Network Performance team, and with the Department of Defense in their High Performance Computing division. My full resume is available upon request.
