My research interests are primarily in the fields of bioinformatics and computational genetics. I'm part of the UNC Computational Genetics Group and my advisor is Prof. Leonard McMillan. My earlier work at UNC was on pair-wise sequence identity comparisons among inbred mouse strains. To see more about this project, check out my web applications. My most recent work is being done on using marker-assisted inbreeding techniques to decrease the number of generations it takes to achieve fully-inbred mice. For this work, I've built a simulator and the techniques tested in the simulator are being implemented with live mice housed in Fernando Pardo Manuel de Villena's lab in UNC Genetics.
