TEXTS:
There is one required
textbook for this course, which is available at the UNC bookstore:
- Michael T. Goodrich, Roberto Tamassia and David Mount. Data
Structures and Algorithms in C++, John Wiley & Sons, 2004. ISBN
0-471-20208-8.
The publishers website for this text is available here.
A useful feature of this site is a server to give hints for selected
homework problems.
The following texts
are on reserve in the Brauer (Math/Physics) Library for your use:
- Bjarne Stroustrup, The C++
Programming Language, 3rd edition, Addison-Wesley, 1997. ISBN
0-201-88954-4
- Nicolai M. Josuttis, The C++
Standard Library : A Tutorial
and Reference, Addison-Wesley, 1999. ISBN 0-201-37926-0.
You may eventually desire
to purchase a copy of either or both of these for yourself.
However, there are a large
number of other possibilities, and since the
required text (GTM) contains basic instruction on C++, it would be
worth your waiting for a few weeks before buying any other C++
books. If you later decide to buy one, you should
generally look for one
written after 1998.
