Animation and Simulation

Simulation of the natural world is a rich and difficult research problem. The GAMMA group at UNC investigates a wide variety of techniques for efficient physically-based animation and simulation.

Recent projects include automatic simplification of articulated body dymanics, efficient cloth simulation using chromatic decomposition, simulation of hair dynamics, simulation of painting, simulation of lightning, and simulation of ice formation. Past projects include automatic simplification of particle systems, and fast penetration depth calculation using deformed distance fields.
