David Paul is the TA in charge of grading. He should be contacted on any matter regarding grading such as

  • Exceptional circumstances force you to be late turning in an assignment
  • You did not collect your assignment when it was handed back in class. Kai will hold on to all uncollected work.
  • Your grade on Blackboard is missing or incorrect.
  • Turn in all assignments at the start of class or to the TA. Do not give early submissions to the instructor (Hedlund tends to lose things!).
  • Do not email your assignments.

However, if you are unclear as to why you received your grade, you need to speak to the TA who did the grading. They will be listed on the web page Programs link.

Email

  • Will miss class. If you are going to miss class, there is no need to inform the instructor ahead of time.
  • Missed class. If you missed class, get the notes from a classmate then come see the instructor with questions.
  • Grading questions. See "Who do I go to for help"
  • Do not email a completed assignment. Electonric submissions are via Sakai. If it is necessary to email a completed assignment, send to your TA.

Who do I go to for help?

  • If at any time your are having difficulties with the course material or you are unsatisifed with your performance in the course, come see the instructor.
  • For questions on programming assignments, homework, or course material, come to any of the TAs or the instructor.
  • Grading
    • Why did I get this grade? Any questions regarding the grading of an assignment should be directed to the TA who graded it. This will be listed on the course web page under the 'Programs' link.
    • I talked with the TA, but I still think this grade is not fair. See the instructor.
    • Blackboard doesn't show a grade for me (or has an incorrect grade). See Abhinav.
  • Anything about Friday labs, see your lab TA.
  • I didn't collect my graded assignment when they were handed back in class, see your lab TA
  • My laptop has died. Most of the publically available UNC computers do not have the software (esp. Eclipse) that you will need to complete your programming assignments. However, you can use computers within the CS dpartement. See your lab TA for assistance if you have problems with the following steps.
    • Go to Technical Support Center (TSC) of the CS department (SN130, 962-1872). Explain your problem and request a departmental account for temporary use.
    • Once you get your account, you may use the computers on the 0 level of Sitterson. Your work should be saved on your flash drive.
    • If you have not backed up your work onto a flash drive prior to your problems with your laptop, you will have to retype it or recreate it from scratch.
