Test 2 coverage

  • Chapter 4 – skip section 7 (Object creation). section 11 (constructors), section 12-14 (Pattern matching)
  • Chapter 5 – do not memorize the tables of events, event attributes, etc. Skip section 7 (Handling events), section 8 (DOM2), sections 9-11

All exams are closed book and closed notes. Bring paper to the exam. You may use a blue book, but it is not required. The final exam is comprehensive. The Study Guide has general information on what we cover this semester.

The first test will cover all material up to Javascript. jQuery and Javascript will not be on the first test. You are responsible for all assigned readings in the textbook, Yale Style Guide, and links from the course web page under 'I. Required Readings' and above 'Preview of coming attractions'. Specific links in Required Readings that will not be on the first test are indicated on the 'Required Readings' page. You are not responsible for readings listed under

  • III. Further Study
  • IV. Foundations

Readings from our textbook that are on the first test

  • Chapter 1 – thru 1.5
  • Chapter 2 – all except 2.8 - 2.11. Additionally, ignore anything on XHTML (may it rest in peace). Do not memorize Table2.1.
  • Chapter 3 – all but do not memorize the tables that list values of properties (Tables 3.1 and 3.2)

Readings from Yale Style Guide

  • Chapter 4 – none
  • Chapter 7 – read Document Design, Visual Design, and Sidebar sections
  • Chapter 8 – skip Display Typography and Sidebar
