  • Reorganization of Anoplolepis into two genera: Anoplolepis and Tapinolepis (elevated from a subgenus of Anoplolepis). Zealleyella now a junior synonym of Anoplolepis (formerly, Zealleyella was a subgenus of Anoplolepis). Mesanoplolepis now a junior synonym of Tapinolepis (formerly, Mesanoplolepis was a subgenus of Anoplolepis).

  • New genus: Kyromyrma Grimaldi & Agosti, 2000. Proc. Natl. Acad. Sci. U.S.A. 97: 13681. Type species: Kyromyrma neffi Grimaldi & Agosti, by original designation and monotypy. This genus and species is known only from the fossil record (New Jersey amber). Types deposited at AMNH.

Three new species are described from Indonesia and Malaysia. The other species are: L. gracilinoda Terayama & Yamane, L. mnaryatiae Terayama & Yamane.
  • New genus: Lenomyrmex Fernández C. & Palacio G., 1999. Systematic Entomol. 24: 8, figs. 1-8. Type species: Lenomyrmex mandibularis Fernández C. & Palacio, G, by original designation. Lenomyrmex has 4 species, and its distribution is exclusively Neotropical (Ecuador, Columbia, Panama).
