- OVERVIEW.
A genus of two species, a subspecies of only one reaching the United States. They are subterranean though carrying on terrestrial raids. Raiding is in columns of several ants wide and a few meters long and is sometimes done during the daylight hours (Smith, D.R. 1979: 1329).

Width of scape near its apex more than one-third its entire length. Tarsal claw with median tooth. Found in southern Texas and Mexico.

Nomamyrmex esenbeckii wilsoni (Santschi). N. esenbeckii esenbeckii (Westwood) is South American. Literature references for N. esenbeckii (Westwood) and N. crassicornis (Smith) from Texas refer to N. wilsoni (Smith, D.R. 1979: 1329) .
