- OVERVIEW.
The 26 species and subspecies of Echinopla occur from Singapore and Sumatra east to the Philippines, Papua New Guinea, and Australia. The Australian species nest and forage arboreally and are infrequently collected (Shattuck, 1999. Ants of Australis: 95).
