. Type species: Formica nigriventris Spinola, by subsequent designation of Wheeler, 1911g: 165. Lasiophanes raised to genus: Wheeler, W.M. 1922i: 695. The type species, Formica nigriventris Spinola, is a junior primary homonym in Formica. Lasiophanes atriventris Smith is the first available replacement name.
