Genus Rossomyrmex (Formicinae)

Arnol´di, 1928c: 299. Type species: Rossomyrmex proformicarum Arnol´di, by original designation.
- OVERVIEW.
This genus consists of two species with widely separated populations. R. proformicariumis found in southeast Kazachstan and R. minuchae in Spain. Both species are slave makers with species of Proformica as the slaves. They form small, monogynous colonies of 20 to 200 workers. Slave raids differ from those in Polyergus in several regards. The recruited workers are carried to the nest to be raided, and not only pupae buts eggs and larvae are taken.
