Remanufacturing.

A range scanner from the Canadian National Research Council has a high accuracy and real-time acquisition rates device that captures range over a limited volume [2]. The error in range is 10-100 microns, the maximum scanning rate is 10 million samples per second, and the volume is a cube several centimeters on a side at a distance of some tens of centimeters. The high-accuracy of such a system makes it ideal for scanning an existing part with the goal of reproducing that part, especially when used with a CCM milling machine to accurately place the device.
