Distributed WWW Search Using Semantic Routers
Project Description
The goal of our project is to develop an architecture that provides distributed search over the World Wide Web that can scale in afford with the exponential growth in both the volume of data being added to the Web and in the numbers of Web users. Our project will design and implement the architecture and then test it as a substantial prototype under actual use conditions. We expect our work to provide the basis for extensions to WWW protocols and architecture that will make distributed, scalable search an integral component. Such extensions will, ultimately, require a very substantial long-term commitment from the Internet community; our work can provide the proof of concept and prototype demonstrations to justify this commitment.
