Part-time Job at RENCI UNC

The RENCI Engagement Center at UNC-Chapel Hill has a part-time position available during the fall semester to assist in the development of visualization tools for the Social Computing Room environment at UNC Chapel Hill. The Social Computing Room is a large scale, 360-degree visualization environment meant for group visualization and collaboration. RENCI has developed a prototype application called 'Collage' that facilitates interaction with visual data, and this prototype will be enhanced in several ways.

-New ways of organizing, sorting, and laying out of imagery, video, and other visual information will be developed.
-New ways of configuring the visual environment, and saving layouts of information will be developed.
-Development of multi-user interaction with the application will be developed, including integration with WiiMote devices.
-Other enhancements as required.

There will also be an opportunity to work with InfoMesa, a prototype visualization tool from Microsoft, as we evaluate its utility in the Social Computing Room.

The position requires a graduate or undergraduate with experience with C and C++. OpenGL and C# experience are a plus. The work schedule will typically run between 15-20 hours per week, with a mix of on-site and independent work hours. Interested parties should contact Mike Conway (michael_conway@unc.edu) at the Renci Engagement Center at UNC Chapel Hill.
