The Graduate School at UNC Chapel Hill invites applications for the position of English as a Second Language Teaching Assistant for the 2010-2011 academic year. This position focuses on graduate student development in the Preparing International Teaching Assistants Program (PITAP). PITAP is a series of courses which focuses on English language skills, cross-cultural communication skills, and pedagogical skills.

The ESL Teaching Assistant will co-teach PITAP courses. Specific tasks include:

* Assess the English language needs of PITAP students
* Develop and teach language and classroom communication lessons
* Create supporting materials and resources for students
* Coordinate support programs including undergraduate classroom and language consultants

Candidates need to be a current graduate student, preferred from communications, linguistics, and education programs with a focus on culture, teaching, and/or linguistic development. CPU/GPU Architecture/Microarchitecture positions at Intel India

Our team reports under the Intel Israel-based Mobile Microprocessor Group that is part of the world-wide Intel Architecture Group. We have worked on Chip Multi-Processors to be launched in 2011 (code-named Sandy Bridge) since the last 5 years. We are now in the research and pathfinding phase for the 2015 generation of CPU/GPU products on Intel’s roadmap. Our team engages in early architecture analysis, microarchitecture research/development, performance/power modeling and analysis and finally detailed power/performance verification vs. RTL à thus contributing heavily in every stage of CPU development.

The key focus for us now is hardware/software partitioning for emerging Graphics and Media (Video etc.) applications, and the accelerator based architectures necessary. In this process we are also intensely studying several multi-level cache architecture, interconnect and memory hierarchy options for large number of heterogeneous cores. Central to the “2015” effort are advanced workload analysis and development of power/energy efficient architectures to deliver high performance graphics and visual (multi-media) computing for heavily threaded applications. The work will be absolutely cutting-edge and we are very selective in hiring for these long-range R&D positions.

This note is to seek your assistance in finding CPU/GPU Architects/Microarchitects for new growth underway in our team here. We are looking for Ph.Ds and MS folks in CS or EE (with or without industry experience) in the computer architecture/microarchitecture domains with strong background in power/performance modeling/analysis and VLSI Design. Selection Criteria

Required:

* Ph.D. in Statistics, Computer Science, or Economics as of July, 2010.
* Expertise in quantitative techniques relevant to database / interactive marketing.

* Access to data suitable for database marketing / interactive marketing projects.

Duration of Appointment and Compensation

The appointment begins July 1, 2010, and runs for at least one year but no more than two years. The annual salary is $65,000, plus a research budget and fringe benefits including health care.

Faculty Mentor

The faculty mentor for this position is Scott A. Neslin, Albert Wesley Frey Professor of Marketing at the Tuck School. Professor Neslin is a specialist in database marketing / interactive marketing. He is co-author of the book, Database Marketing: Analyzing and Managing Customers (2008, Springer). He has published several papers in this area and is a member of the editorial boards of the leading journals in marketing.
