Information and Links for Tour du Mont Blanc

GUIDEBOOK. I used the guidebook, Tour of Mont Blanc by Andrew Harper in addition to a route description from Distant Journeys, who arranged all the hotels.  Another company that I've used (Switzerland, France) that also sets up trips is Sherpa Expeditions.

MAPS. I bought two IGN 1:25,000 maps in Chamonix, which cover the whole TMB.  They are numbers 3531ET and 3630OT.  Another possibility is a single Didier Richard map at 1:50,000

ACCOMMODATIONS. The tourist office in Chamonix has a list of accommodations around the TMB.  This is useful if you're booking ahead.  I scanned the one from 2000 as a PDF (3 MB).  Things like the prices are out of date, of course, but the phone numbers may be helpful.

Some hotel and refuge brochures

I stayed in good hotels as much as possible (it's not always possible because of the distances between towns).  Another alternative is to stay in refuges.  You should take a bedsack (I had a double up king-size sheet, but it was in my lost suitcase).  The accommodation will be in dormitories, so ear plugs might be a good idea also.  The third possibility is to camp out, but then you'll have to carry more gear.
