There were two routes from Champex. I took the Bovine route. There are occasional buvettes, or snack stands, on the trail. They seem to be run by local farmers. This one was on the Bovine farm and was surrounded by cattle, each with a bell. They were making so much noise that it wasn't restful to sit and have a Coke.
This was my hotel in Trient, the Relais du Mont Blanc. It was pretty crowded, but a lot of fun. The people were great and the food was good.
This day began with a long uphill to the Col de Balme, then down to the Refuge de Boerne (below).
I walked on the ridge and then took the cablecar from Flegere to Chamonix. Below is the view of Chamonix from above.
The picture below is of two British schoolteachers who were hiking the TMB at about the same pace that I was. I ran into them several times. They had full packs and were camping. I like my hotel trekking better.
