COMP 875 Project or Survey Paper
Progress report due: Tuesday, November 3
Submission: Email me a PDF document (around five pages)
If you are writing a survey paper, your progress report should
be an (approximately) five-page draft. The draft should include a
more or less complete reference list (20 to 40 references).
Include placeholder sections or an outline for the parts of the paper
you did not have time to complete yet.
If you are doing an implementation project, your progress report
should include the following components:
- Updated/refined problem definition: if there are any changes
from your proposal, explain them here.
- Summary of work already performed: specify what data and
external code you used, and what you implemented yourself.
- Preliminary results and findings: show some plots, pictures,
etc. If you have run into unexpected challenges, or if your preliminary
results have not been satisfactory, discuss possible causes and explain
what steps you plan to take to improve the results.
- Outline of work yet to be performed: Indicate the priority order of
whatever remains to be implemented or tested. Include optional extensions
or improvements.
