From jpl@laas.fr Tue Jan 16 03:40:01 2001 POSTDOC POSITION IN TOULOUSE (FRANCE) Motion Planning for Virtual Beings LAAS-CNRS (http://www.laas.fr) in Toulouse (France) offers a postdoc position to conduce a research and development action in motion planning for virtual beings. Research: The most advanced tools to provide realistic motions for virtual beings come from motion capture. In that technology the motions appears as a sequence of key-frames containing the successive values of the degrees of freedom of the artefact considered as a mechanical system. The question is to transform these data into control laws allowing to adapt the motions according to a given environment. In a second step, the control laws should be integrated within a geometric library (http://www.laas.fr/~nic/Move3D) dedicated to obstacle avoidance. Development: This research action is part of a French program involving LAAS-CNRS, a start-up whose activity is dedicated to motion planning, and a provider of graphics solutions (behavior-based software and solutions to Game and Web3D Entertainment). Skills: PhD in Graphics (or closed area) Application: Send vitae to jpl@laas.fr (French researchers cannot apply)
