Allergies

I include this on my website as a humour item, and also for the rare occasion that someone wants to attempt to cook me something.

The following table includes the results from my last skin test. The numbers indicate the size of the welts in millimeters, and give an approximate (but not accurate) guess to how allergic I am. The ones in red are potentially anaphylactic, and the ones in purple have the possibility of becoming so. (Anaphylaxis is a sudden, severe allergic reaction characterized by a sharp drop in blood pressure, urticaria (rash), and breathing difficulties that is caused by exposure to an allergen.) I do have tolerances to most of the foods I'm allergic to.

Allowed Nuts

Nuts I have passed challenges for, and thus am allowed to eat: pecans

Foods I'm allergic to (Christmas 2003 tests)

In this test I was trying to figure out what fruits and vegetables were okay. I brought in pretty much "one of everything" from the grocery store. Needless to say, the results were pretty disappointing.

4+ 3+ 2+ 1+ +/- ("almost" a bump) negative (aka "okay")
almond, green pepper, avocado nectarine, radish, leek, carrot, broccoli, zucchini, acorn squash (likely all squash) peanut, hazelnut, orange with peel (= citrus oil, fruit okay), pear, apple, kiwi, beet, celery, green onion (probably all onions), cucumber chestnuts, pistachio, mango pecans, blueberry brazilnut, coconut, cashew, macademia nut, tuna, cow's milk (but I'm still allergic), banana, pineapple, grapefruit, grape, waterchestnut, cauliflower, rutabaga

Foods I'm allergic to (~1996 test)

4+ 3+ 2+ 1+
sesame seeds/oil, hazelnuts, egg yolk

cats, house dust mites, grass pollen, tree pollen, weed pollen
peanuts, celery, sunflower seeds/oil, poppy seeds/oil egg white, pecans, walnuts, cashews, chestnuts, wheat, corn, rye, tomatoes, bananas

feathers, mold
almonds, brazilnuts, kiwis, safflower seeds/oil, flaxseeds/oil

Not included in the above table: milk (both cow's and goat's), canned tuna (it's the can, not the tuna), yoghurt, food colouring, codeine, pears, peaches, nectarines, honeydew melon, cantaloupe, apricots, citrus *oil* (lemon, orange...), chocolate (I ignore that allergy), exercise (yes, it is possible), MSG, metals (I'm not sure which)...

I may also be allergic to: latex (as in rubber, not the program), breadfruit, carbonated beverages (I can't figure that one out either)...

Foods I'm pretty sure I'm *not* allergic to

This is not a complete list, but I'm pretty sure I'm *not* allergic to: rice, wild rice, oats, potatoes, meat, beans, peas, mushrooms, seafood (except canned tuna), *white* bread/pasta/flour, olives, olive oil, canola oil, citrus *fruit* (oranges, lemons, limes, grapefruit), watermelon, grapes, lettuce, spinach, parsley, basil, oregano, sage, thyme, bay leaves, pepper, salt, sugar, molasses, bok choi, ginger, garlic, yeast, honey, cabbage, vinegar, ...
