Going off to graduate school and living on my own has taught me how to cook for one. And after a long day, that cooking had better be minimal. Factor in my allergies and picky eating habits, and you'll understand why I started "experimental cooking". No, I don't always cook this fancy, but I thought I would share some of my tastier, no-hassle recipes. So here they are:
You may have noticed the lack of measurements... my recipes are mostly "to taste". This results in a lot fewer dishes to wash.
Somehow mass produced cookies in the USA don't taste as good as those in Canada. I was buying the ones the grocery store bakery produced, but those were variable quality, and one day they were covered by sesame seeds. Given that I have a potentially anaphylactic allergy to sesame seeds, I decided to start baking my own. Since I'm going to the effort of baking my own, I thought I'd bake egg-free ones... however there seems to be a pathetic lack of egg-free cookie recipes. (Egg substitute did NOT work the time I tried it.) Starting from a gingerbread recipe, I decided to branch out and experiment. Here are my sucesses:
