COMP 380-003   Computers & Society    Spring 2008

TERM PROJECT OVERVIEW

TEAM ASSIGNMENTS
TEAM SCHEDULES

WHAT THIS IS

You will be a part of a four-person team.  Two team members will argue for one point of view on a controversial subject, while the other two team members will take an opposing view.  You cannot all argue for the same side.

Your grade will reflect how you perform individually and as a part of your four-person team.  Links to Grading rubric are provided below.

The term project will consist of several parts.  In sum, you will write a two-person term paper (with various things to turn in first--see below), re-submit a corrected version of your graded term paper (if you earn below an A-), and give a 30-minute, four-person team presentation.

You are welcome to talk to either the professor or the TA as often as you like about the project, but there are two required meetings.
(1) A meeting with Prof. Pozefsky after your outline is returned.  The purpose of this meeting is to review the outline and discuss additional approaches and resources.
(2) Prior to your presentation, you are to have a walkthrough with the our TA, Jason Cisarano.  (If you have difficulties scheduling the walkthrough, please see Prof. Pozefsky as early as possible.)

Due dates are staggered for the outlines, term papers, and presentations, with some teams presenting before they turn in their papers, and others the reverse.  All due dates are listed on The PLAN.

In addition to your own weekly team meeting time, you are expected to use those Monday evenings without guest speakers (or movies) for that purpose.

NOTE:  For everything that you submit:  please TYPE, with these exceptions:  Individual Worksheet, Team Topic Preferences, Status Reports, and Evaluations can be printed.

QUESTIONS, PROBLEMS:

Be assertive with your teammates.  Do not let problems fester.  Stay on top of everything.   If you determine that any team member--especially your writing partner--is not doing his/her fair share of work, and on time, please DISCUSS YOUR PLIGHT with your T.A. or Instructor as early as possible, else there may not be much, if anything, that we can do to help.  Don't wait!  Ball's in your court.
