Travelling was never my passion when I was in India. It was a routine affair, every summer we (family) would goto some big city in India to do some shopping!! Travelling in its true spirit was what I discovered when I came to the US. My first trip after coming to Chapel Hill was to Washington D.C. I have since been to Boston, New York City & Atlanta while studying in Chapel Hill. I interned in New Jersey over the summer of 1999. I was most excited to see New York City, and I am always thrilled to drive on the bridges in the city. The same applies for San Francisco.
Travel.
Currently, I reside in the San Francisco bay area. While in the valley, I have been to places close to the valley as well as to Las Vegas & Reno in Nevada. Las Vegas is truly a dreamland. I was too delirious to walk along the strip. I have also sneaked a trip to Seattle, and to the smokies in the east to see the fall colors.
After my graduation in May'00, I along with my friends: Anand, Chandna, Vibhor & Sriram embarked on an amazing trip to Europe. Europe, we all dreamed of going to Europe. The Switzerland we saw in Indian movies, or the Eiffel Tower. An Europe of my dreams. It sure did come true. For 20 days we travelled across Western Europe and the United Kingdom. I will write about my trip some other time. Among the places we visited are, Switzerland (Lucerne & Interlaken), Italy (Venice, Florence, Rome & Pisa), France (Nice-Monte Carlo, Dujon & Paris), Germany (Koblenz-Rhine Valley), Holland (Amsterdam) & United Kingdom (London, Edinburgh, Inverness & Manchester). In a future trip to Europe, I would love to goto Moscow, Austria & Spain for sure.
Ok..now what I miss is the fact that I have not travelled enough in India. Other than my home state, I have been to cities in Andhra, Madras, Bangalore & Mysore, Bombay, Calcutta & Delhi. Bombay is a place I want to goto and explore more closely. Bombay is really the city of dreams in India. And yes, the Himalayas, Manasaravor lake & Mt. Kailash (in Tibet), Kashmir, Rajasthan, Kerala & the Kulu-Manali are among the few other places in India I would definitely want togo in my lifetime.
The following are a few pictures I have scanned. Will scan the ones taken in Europe soon.
