Term Project - Persuasive Research Paper
General Paper Requiremens
Two term papers from each team. Essentially each person will turn in a paper they wrote that represents one view, and the other member will turn in a paper they authored, representing the opposing view. However, all members may continue to share, critique each other, help each other, etc., as before. Grades will be assigned to each term paper separately.
Length: Typically, one term paper runs from eight to ten pages (or slightly more), exclulding the Title Page and Works Cited pages. Right now there is a hard limit of 10 pages. If you feel that you absolutely need more space, please let me know ahead of time. Footnotes and endnotes are fine as long as they are consistent with the MLA citation style.
Format: Please follow the same writing guidelines as in the short paper. For additional reference on writing the paper, here's a link to some hints and methodology. Additionally, your final copy should be a single file, formatted to include a separate title and works cited page. NOTE: Please make sure that your onyen and team number are the first things in the filename. (For instance, an acceptable paper filename would be "rgayle - team 11 - term paper.doc").
Works Cited Typically, about eight sources should be the minimum for this paper. The best papers typically have dozens of sources, and various kinds of sources, that have been well integrated. A minimum of six sources must come from places other than the required class readings.
Works Consulted If you wish, you may also include a WORKS CONSULTED list, which includes articles or books you've consulted and read pieces of, but didn't use nor cite in your paper. (e.g., background information).
Marks on your papers: Please note that while we may mark up your paper (sometimes quite heavily) for grammatical and/or spelling errors, that does not imply that they are the most important criteria that contributed to your grade; it is a teachable moment. We closely follow the grading rubric. Consult it often.
