Status (as of 3/23/2010)

Working in Microsoft Research as part of the eXtreme Computing Group (XCG). My current work involves development of OS and system software for many-core processors like Intel Larrabee and Intel Single-chip Cloud Computer.

Research at UNC:

My research at UNC is in measuring and optimizing queuing at routers caused by end to end congestion control algorithms. This also involves designing new (router assisted) congestion control algorithms to minimize the amount of queuing caused in Internet routers without sacrificing connection response time performance.

My advisor is Prof. Jasleen Kaur.

We have already explored into robust network link failure monitoring and some theoretical limits and algorithms into finding a complete set of beacons for monitoring the links in the network. We also explored into different heuristics for solving the intractable problems therein and have interesting empirical findings on which methods work the best for the kind of topologies in the present internet.
