First a bit about myself

As you have probably already guessed my name is Lev Stesin. I was born in the city of Leningrad (recently renamed to St.-Petersburg) on the shores of the beautiful river Neva. I had studied in the school #310, Kupchino District, (would be very glad to meet someone from my alma mater). Six years ago my parents made the wisest decision of their lives and emigrated to the U.S. where ever since we reside in the amazing city of San Francisco. Two years ago I graduated from the University of California at Berkeley, with a BA in computer science . Now I am a graduate student in the Computer Science Department of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and is about to graduate once again.

Here I am a member of the STC Group and work with Prof. Henry Fuchs on the "Office of the Future" project. My primary area of research is in data simplification of large data sets and object geometry reconstruction from separate subparts. Before this project I worked with Leonard McMillan on the fast and reliable collection of images for the Image Based Rendering. Also, at Berkeley, I had been a member of the Optical Research Group headed by Prof. Bryan Barsky. My work there was concerned with determining curvature of irregular surfaces.

Anyway, welcome to my homepage. I hope you will find many interesting things in here. Feel free to write me your suggestions, comments, complains, and general criticism.
