How to Use Profile Window


The upper right panel in the GistView window contains a profile graph. The default appearance of it is empty.

You can activate the graph by clicking the ProfileGraph Button. Doing so will display the profile data about each of the PIDs, one per column in the graph.

Here the profile refer to the counter values recorded in the log file. Notice the Choice List at the bottom of the Profile Graph Window. Click on that, you will see all the counters' name recorded in the log file. You can choose any counter, the Profile Graph will show you the correspoding counter value for each PID.

There are several functionalities that the user can perform in this window.

  1. Show Profile Graph.

    You can activate the graph by clicking the ProfileGraph Button. Doing so will display the profile data about each of the PIDs, one per column in the graph.

    If you only have one Indicator in the Event Window, the profile graph will show you the selected counter's value for each PID at the time point specified by the Indicator. If you have two Indicators, the profile graph will display the selected counter's value for each PID at the time region specified by the two Indicators.

  2. Printing Profile Graph

    You may want to print out the profile graph on paper to look at later on. Click the Print Profile Graph icon on Tool Bar, or choose Print from File Menu on the menu Bar, you will get a pop up window to let you choose printer and format. Click OK on that pop up window, you will get the profile graph printed.
