Eats2Seats

My name is Mary Laci Motley, and I am planning to graduate in May 2021 from UNC.

I launched my company EATS2SEATS last year, and we work as a third party in sports stadiums providing staffing services, fundraising for nonprofits, and food delivery for concessions. We expanded to 7 venues last year, but COVID-19 heavily impacted operations this year. However, the slow operations motivated me to focus on other goals such as automation and (hopefully) app development! I am happy to answer any questions on our progress/revenues/scale/etc. to date, and you can read more about the company's values, mission, and culture on our website: https://www.eats2seats.org/

Over the summer, I received funding to design a platform that handles the back-end of the staffing operations. I was able to design the platform in an information sciences class, and I have a rough working prototype; however, COMP523 would be an amazing opportunity to improve and develop my prototype into something advanced, user-friendly, and functional for scale!

I read through the COMP 523 website and mirrored some of the examples that were deemed good fits for the class and jotted down some of my thoughts for the company below:

    • A variety of tools to help managers with staffing in stadiums (especially large staffing responsibilities like stadiums with 100+ available spots)
    • Similar to a seating chart generator but for concession stand placement
    • Potentially a click-to-signup type of system (stadium shown with available concession stand locations for workers to click and signup)
    • Grouping signups with managers and stand locations and can register attendance to the event being operated
    • Organizing personal information, waivers, etc. into a clearly organized backend
    • A training component where quizzes and videos can be completed before working games
    • An ability to track stand performance (revenues generated, tips made, etc)..probably needs to be manually inputted by the manager but the app can produce a clear summary/spreadsheet for backend usage and calculate expected pay/breakeven
