The beads used for these tests are generated algorithmically. They are a mixture of dark-on-gray discs of various radius and dark-on-gray Gaussian spots of various standard deviation. The background is 75% brightness and the darkest spot on the disc or the Gaussian is 25%. There is no noise in these images. The disc samples are averaged over a uniform grid that has 100 times the resolution in X and Y of the final image. The Gaussians are averaged over a uniform grid that has 10 times the resolution in X and Y. This should make it possible to precisely localize the spots to 1/100th of a pixel. For all trials, the Video Spot Tracker precision setting is 0.001 and sample_spacing is 0.1.
