The Technical Support Center (TSC) is the help desk for the
Department of Computer Science at the University of North Carolina. The TSC is part of the Computer Services Group.

User Support

The TSC provides immediate support for problems of an urgent nature, such as a file server that has crashed or a smoking workstation. If a user requires immediate response to a problem (hardware or software), he should call the TSC. The person in the TSC will handle the problem if he can, or he will contact someone who can take care of the problem. In addition, the TSC is available to answer short questions that do not require extensive research, and they can handle certain quick-fix UNIX, PC, Mac and Printer problems.

Services

The TSC sells several kinds of computer media, including diskettes, zip disks, CD-Rs, CD-RWs, DVDs.

The TSC has documents and manuals available to check out, on topics including Java, Perl, Mathematica, Matlab, and other applications.

The TSC has a small network kit available for checkout. The kit contains items to set up connections at a conference table. This is a low cost trial setup, if the Department finds it useful, we will set up a more robust version. Contact the TSC to reserve the kit.
