Revision History
Version 1.3.1 (24 February 2009)
- FIXED: Resolved issue with message subjects shorter than the followup prefix.
- FIXED: Resolved possible issue with multiple accounts (allow followup to self if original sender was self).
Version 1.3 (02 January 2009)
- NEW: To match the semantics of Reply and Reply All, added functionality for both Follow Up (original To: recipients only) and Follow Up All (all original recipients). This includes new menu and toolbar items. (To help ease the upgrade transition, the Follow Up All menu shortcuts and buttons maintain the same behavior as Follow Up in versions 1.2.x.)
- NEW: In a follow-up message composition window the toolbar now contains a Follow Up or Follow Up All button. You can use this button to toggle between Follow Up and Follow Up All.
- NEW: You can now change the follow-up menu item and toolbar button strings. Doing so requires using the Terminal application.
- NEW: You can now change the follow-up subject prefix from the default "Re: " to something else such as "Followup: ". Doing so requires using the Terminal application. Thanks to Astrov Alexander for the suggestion.
Version 1.2.1 (28 December 2007)
- FIXED: Eliminated a bug that could cause strange behavior, and potentially a Mail crash, if a user manually moved recipients around in a followup message. (When this occured, the actual and displayed recipient lists would become mis-matched, and the system log would show a message like "mutating method sent to immutable object".) Thanks to Gianfranco Giometti for initially bringing this to my attention.
- CHANGED: Changed some rules for when recipients were added to the To or Cc fields. For example, if the user does a followup to a message that was only sent to the user (the only recipient in the To list) then it is effectively treated as a Reply All. Also, the user will now only be cc'd or bcc'd if they have the "Automatically Cc: myself" (or Bcc) option specified in the preferences. Thanks to Gianfranco Giometti for suggestions related to this.
Version 1.2 (20 November 2007)
- NEW: OS X 10.5/Leopard compatibility. Note that this version will only run on Leopard. (A 10.4/Tiger version is available on the plugin web page.)
- CHANGED: Completely changed the way the underlying follow-up is handled in mail. This should, I hope, be faster, smoother, and eliminate the occasional addition of the original sender to the To header.
- CHANGED: Changed the name to MailFollowUp.
- CHANGED: Changed the English menu and toolbar items to use "Follow Up" instead of "Followup".
- CHANGED: Changed the German localization strings. (Thanks to Matthias Fichtner and Jan-Michael Frahm.)
- NEW: Added Italian localization. (Thanks to Paolo Boni.)
- NEW: Added an uninstaller to the distribution package.
Version 1.2b4 (11 November 2007)
- CHANGED: Completely changed the way the underlying follow-up is handled in mail. This should, I hope, be faster, smoother, and eliminate the occasional addition of the original sender to the To header.
Version 1.2b1 (03 November 2007)
- NEW: OS X 10.5/Leopard compatibility. Note that this version will only run on Leopard.
- CHANGED: Changed the name to MailFollowUp (minor).
Version 1.1 (26 February 2007)
- NEW: Added a much-requested Followup toolbar button. The button can be added via the toolbar customization panel, either as a stand-alone Followup button, or in a Reply-Reply All-Followup-Forward group.
- NEW: If you use multiple accounts, the account that the original message was sent from will now automatically be chosen for the followup. You can of course change this in the Account pop-up of the message compose window. (Thanks to Ben Schwan and Cezary Okupski for feedback on these issues.)
- NEW: The MailRecent plugin version and a list of all currently installed plugins is now printed in the Console log when Mail is launched.
- NEW: The installer now warns the user if the Mail bundle compatibility is already set to 1 (old style). It also now lists all currently installed plugins at the end of the installation.
- NEW: The installer now offers to back up the Mail folder and preferences to the Desktop.
- NEW: The installer has been localized in German and French. (Thank you to Jan-Michael Frahm and Maurice Scharf for the translations.)
- IMPROVED: Re-thought and changed the logic for when to cc and/or bcc the original and/or followup sender. Some additional unusual cases are handled better, and the overall process is faster.
- IMPROVED: Improved the handling of followups from the Sent mail folder. (Thanks to Ben Schwan and Cezary Okupski for feedback on these issues.)
- FIXED: The recipient addresses in the followup message are now the full "formatted" addresses, as opposed to just the minimal email addresses. (Thanks to Cezary Okupski for pointing this out.)
Version 1.0.4
- Changed the menu key equivalent combination from
-Option-Shift-F to
-Shift-O to avoid a text selection problem caused by including the Option key in the combination.
- Fixed a bug (I hope) that occasionally left the original sender in the "To" address field.
- Added French localization (changed "Followup" to "Enchaîner").
Version 1.0.3
- Improved logic for when to cc the original sender. Now should only cc the original sender if the Followup sender is not the original sender. (This should eliminate most duplicate sender cc cases.)
Version 1.0.2
- Fixed a bug where the Followup menu item was being added to the Message and contextual menus each time a new Viewer window was opened, resulting in multiple (duplicate) Followup menu items.
Version 1.0.1
- Fixed a bug that caused Mail to crash for users without the Mail Act-On plugin installed.
- Compiled (but not tested) as a universal binary.
