OnLine Document Server (ODS) FAQ

Welcome to the Online Document Server(ODS) of the Department of Computer Science, UNC-Chapel Hill. This server is an automated web-interface database system that allows world-wide users to search for papers published from the Department of Computer Science, UNC Chapel Hill (UNC-CH CS), and classify these papers according to publication years, authors, titles, etc.;

1. Brief history of ODS?
2. Who is responsible for maintaining ODS?
3. How are the papers displayed? How to find a specific paper?

1.Brief history of ODS?

        The idea of an Online Document Server (ODS) originated from Prof. Anselmo Lastra, Dept. of Computer Science, UNC-CH. On seeing the Graphics Publication website at Stanford and Cornell University, Prof. Lastra wished that UNC had a similar one and so Team 13 from Comp145 (Spring 2001), Dept. of Computer Science, UNC-CH implemented it as their class software product.

2. Who is responsible for maintaining ODS?

        Currently the development and maintainance of the ODS is in the hands of Team 13 as detailed in the above link. After Spring 2001, the Pixal Research Group of UNC-CH CS will take over the administration/ maintainence of the ODS.

3. How are the papers displayed? How to find a specific paper?

        All papers are sorted according to these five criterions: Year, Author, Title, Conference and Subject. Inner links are created for each specific author, title, conference for easy navigation and user convenience.
